New Orleans

New Orleans Louis Armstrong International Airport (MSY) is located in Kenner, Louisiana, approximately 11 miles west of downtown New Orleans. The airport was originally opened in 1946 as Moisant Field and was renamed in 2001 to honor jazz musician Louis Armstrong, who was born in New Orleans.


In recent years, New Orleans Airport has undergone a major renovation and expansion project, which included the construction of a new terminal building. The new terminal opened in November 2019 and features modern amenities and technology, including a consolidated security checkpoint and a state-of-the-art baggage handling system.
