Ibiza Airport is the main international airport on the Mediterranean tourist island of Ibiza. Since most of the passengers using this airport are tourists heading for one of the many beaches, it can be especially crowded at this airport in the summer months. Also, most flights from and to Ibiza are seasonal, so you not have as many options in the winter months.
Ibiza Airport did not see any decline in passengers during the financial crisis and the deep recession of Spain; the airport saw double digits growth in the years since 2010, growing to over 8 million passengers a year, making this one of Spain's most important airports.
Ibiza Airport is not a large airport so there are not many flights departing here. There are only a few destinations that you can reach from Ibiza Airport, most of these are operated by Transavia. Many people take a flight to Amsterdam and transfer to another flight there.
The airport has one runway and one passenger terminal with two floors. All check-in and baggage belts are on the ground floor while the departure and arrival gates and duty-free shops are on the upper floor.
Ibiza Airport is located about 10 km southwest of the main city which is also called Ibiza.
The cheapest way to get to Ibiza city is by bus line 10. It runs between Ibiza via San Jorge to the airport, and vice versa. A one-way ticket can be bought for 3.50 euro from the driver. The trip takes about an half hour. In the winter months (1 November till 1 April) departures are less frequent (every 30 minutes from 7 am till midnight). In the summer months (2 April till 31 October) bus line 10 departs every 20 minutes, from 6 am till midnight. In July and August it departs even every 15 minutes.
A taxi into Ibiza city will take about 20 minutes and would cost more or less 20 euro. Be prepared to wait though as the queues for the taxis can be quite long in the summer months.
