The Port Hedland International Airport is located 9 km southeast of Port Hedland, Western Australia. The airport is owned by the Town of Port Hedland and operated by AMP Capital and Infrastructure Capital Group. The mining boom in this region saw a significant increase in passenger number in recent years and a number of upgrades has been completed which included improved taxiways and upgrade of the arrivals and departure areas. Facilities at the airport now included cafe, showers and ATM.
Only one international flight departs from Port Hedland: a Virgin Australia flight to Denpasar, Bali. Most flights from Port Hedland are for Perth (Alliance, Qantas, Virgin), but there are also a weekly flights to Melbourne and Newman.
