The Auckland Airport (formerly called Auckland International Airport and also locally known as Mangere Airport) is the main gateway into New Zealand. With well over 16 million passengers a year it is the largest and busiest airport in New Zealand as well as one of the busiest in the Pacific Region.
Most flights from Auckland Airport are to Sydney and to Melbourne but there are many more flights to other destinations as well, most of them by Qantas. Every day there are flights to 18 destinations from Auckland Airport. Here are the most popular destinations:
The airport is located 21 km south of the Auckland city center and consists of two terminals. One international one and a domestic one, both are located 500 meters apart and connected by a walkway and a free shuttle bus.
The SkyBus is a airport shuttle service connecting the airport with Auckland City, operating 24/7 with two different bus routes. The SkyBus departs very regularly, every 10 to 15 minutes on weekdays and every 30 minutes in the nighttime. Travel time to the city is 40 to 60 minutes and a ticket start at $18 per adult one-way.
The 380 Airporter is a shuttle service connecting the airport with Papatoetoe Train Station where you can take a train to your destination. These buses also operate every day but not in the night time. Fares are available in the bus and start at $5.
A free shuttle bus connects the international and domestic terminal in the day time or you can walk between them (500 meter).
