Francisco Bangoy International Airport, also known by the name of the Davao International Airport is the main airport serving Davao City. The name is taken from Don Francisco Bangoy, a local patrician who donated his land in the 1940s to build the airport.
The airport currently handels almost three million passengers annually making it the busiest airport on the island of Mindanao and the third busiest in the Philippines. The airport is used as a third hub for Cebu Pacific. International flight options are limited though with only Cebu Pacific and SilkAir offering flights to and from Singapore.
Most flights from Francisco Bangoy International Airport are to Manila and to Cebu but there are many more flights to other destinations as well, most of them by Cebu Pacific Air. A new terminal was opened in 2003 replacing the old terminal. This new terminal accommodates domestic and international flights, each with 14 check-in counters. Davao Airport has one 3000 meter long runway.
Davao Airport is located about 15 km northeast from downtown Davao.
There are no buses or other public transport options, so the only alternative is to walk from the airport to the highway (5 - 10 minutes) and get a jeepney to the city center which costs around PHP 30.
Taxis are available outside the terminal which will take you to the city center for about PHP 200.
