Beijing Capital International Airport is with close to a 100 million passengers a year Asia's busiest airport and the second busiest in the world. The new Terminal 3 is the second largest terminal in the world (after Dubai's Terminal 3). But even this is not enough to handle the increasing passenger numbers and a new airport in Daxing is under construction which will be ready in 2018.
Most flights from Beijing Capital International Airport are to Hong Kong and to Guangzhou but there are many more flights to other destinations as well, most of them by Air China. Bejing Capital Airport has three terminals which are well connected by shuttle bus and walkways. Terminal 1 (build in 1980) is used for all domestic flights of the Hainan Airlines Group. Terminal 2 opened in 1999 and is now used for domestic and international flights for China Southern, China Eastern and all SkyTeam airlines. The new Terminal 3 (opened in 2004) is used by all OneWorld and Star Alliance airlines and Air China.
Beijing Capital International Airport is located 20 km northeast of the city.
Numerous transport options exist to and from Beijing to the Capital Airport.
Subway: Terminal 2 and 3 are served by the Airport Express Line of the Bejing Subway system with stops at Sanyuanqiao and Dongzhimen. The trip takes 20 minutes and costs RMB 25
Bus: Airport buses run from the airport on eleven different routes to many destinations in the city for RMB 16 one-way The Airport buses are a fairly quick, cheap and convenient option. You can buy bus tickets at the booths at the terminals.
Metered taxis are waiting outside the terminals and a ride into the city should cost around RMB 150.
