Laguindingan International Airport is the brand new airport serving the cities Cagayan de Oro (CDO) and Iligan and the provinces Misamis Oriental and Lanao del Norte. The airport opened in 2013 at a cost of almost 8 billion peso (US$ 160 million).
The airport became the first international designated airport in the region although so far there are no international flights to Laguidingan although direct flights to Seoul are planned for considering the large South Korean presence in the area. Laguindingan Airport can accommodate four airplane movements per hour and approximately one million passengers annually.
Laguindingan International Airport is not a large airport so there are not many flights departing here. There are only a few destinations that you can reach from Laguindingan International Airport, most of these are operated by PAL Express. Many people take a flight to Cebu and transfer to another flight there.
Laguindingan International Airport is located 25 km northwest from Cagayan de Oro and 60 km northeast from Iligan.
The Magnum Express runs from the airport to downtown Cagayan de Oro (Limketkai Mall) for PHP 200 while the LAX Shuttle goes to Centrio Mall for PHP 249.
To get to Iligan you can take the Super 5 shuttle (PHP 50) which will drop you off at the highway after a ten minute ride. There you can take the Super 5 bus to Iligan (PHP 85). Jeepneys also depart from the Super 5 bus stop at the highway and head for the West Bound bus terminal for PHP 40.
