Husein Sastranegara International Airport (BDO) is located near Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. The airport is named after an Indonesian hero from West Java. Bandung is an hub for AirAsia and connects Bandung with Kuala Lumpur, Medan, Denpasar and Singapore amongst others.
The Governor of West Java announced that there will be new airport built to replace Husein Sastranegara International Airport, named Bandung Majalengka International Airport. It would be located in Kertajati, Majalengka Regency, some 100 kilometers east of Bandung. It will open in 2018.
Most flights from Husein Sastranegara International Airport are to Denpasar Bali and to Medan but there are many more flights to other destinations as well, most of them by Super Air Jet. The airport has one large terminal used for both domestic and international flights. The airport has many facilities like two executive lounges, internet access and TV, praying rooms, restaurants, shops and ATM.
The airport is located inside the city, just 5 km northwest of the city center and 3 km from the main train station.
Public transport is limited to the local Angkot vans which depart outside the airport gates on Jl. Pajajaran. They are cheap but cramped and not suitable if you have large suitcases. Since the airport is so close to the city a taxi is a much better choice.
Taxis at Bandung Airport have a fixed prices of Rp. 42.000 (about US$ 4.00) to any destination in the center. A taxi to the airport using the meter should cost about 30.000.
