Hanoi - Noi Bai International Airport (HAN)

Hanoi Airport has two passenger terminals, one of which was recently opened (2015). Terminal 1 serves all domestic flights and the new Terminal 2 is for international flights only. Both terminals are located next to each other and are within walking distance.
The airport has two runways, one of 3800 meters and one of 3200 meters.

Noi Bai International airport is located in Soc Son District, about 25 kilometers north of Hanoi city center.

North Vietnam is famous for its various scams, especially with transportation and hotels. They have lifted the practice of ripping foreigners off into an art form. Be careful and always be suspicious, always double-check anything somebody tells you.
Public busses depart outside and you would need to go upstairs to the second floor, go outside and walk to the left to the other side of the road. Several buses depart for destinations within Hanoi, best to ask locally which one you should get. Unfortunately large suitcases are not allowed on these busses so you may need to wait or bribe a bit. But since the bus only costs VND 9000, it is worth it.
Shuttle Busses from the airport to Hanoi will stop at the Vietnam Airlines Office on 1 Quang Trung in downtown Hanoi where you can proceed with a taxi to your final destination. The shuttle bus fare is VND 40.000.
A new Express bus takes the new expressway and stops at Long Bien bus station, Opera House, Melia Hotel and the Railway station. Departures every 25 minutes at a one-way fare of 30.000.

If you want to take a taxi, best to get one at the official taxi stand outside the terminal. The ride into the city would cost around VND 350.000. We strongly advice you to avoid the taxi touts and 'special offers'.
