The Tjilik Riwut Airport serves the city of Palangkaraya and is the largest airport in Central Kalimantan. This airport is named after Tjilik Riwut, the first Governor of Central Kalimantan. The airport is a hub for Lion Air which also operates the Lion Air Flight School and the Lion Air Hangar for maintenance.

The airport has one runway and one passenger terminal. Both will be upgraded in the near future: the runway will be extended from 2500 to 3000 meter and a new, modern terminal will be constructed with two floors and a total area of over 15.000 square meters.
The Tjilik Riwut Airport is located in the eastern edge of Palangkaraya, about 5 km southeast from the city center.
Damri is planning to operate an airport bus to Palangkaraya but at the time of writing (July 2017) this was not operational yet. To get into the city by public transport you can take an angkot or ojek. The angkot to the center will cost about Rp. 3.000 and an ojek about Rp. 15.000.
Taxi's are available at Palangkaraya's Tjilik Riwut Airport and will cost about Rp. 60.000 to Rp. 90.000 to Palangkaraya city center depending the taxi company and exact destination.
