The Darwin International Airport serves the city Darwin as well as the Northern Territory. With almost two million passengers a year the Darwin International Airport is the tenth busiest of Australia.
The international destinations at Darwin airport are limited with connections to Bali, Singapore, Manila, Kuala Lumpur and Ho Chi Minh City only. Darwin airport has connections to the main cities within Australia and the airport is used as a hub for Airnorth Airlines for many regional destinations using turboprops.
Darwin International Airport is not a large airport so there are not many flights departing here. There are only a few destinations that you can reach from Darwin International Airport, most of these are operated by JetStar Airways. Many people take a flight to Sydney and transfer to another flight there.
The Darwin International Airport is located just north of the Charles Darwin National Park, about 8 km northeast of the city center.
Taxis are widely available and at $25 rather cheap. There is also an airport shuttle bus service ($18 one-way) as well.
Public transport is limited with no direct bus connections between the airport and the city. Bus line 3 stops at the airport but you would need to switch buses several times to get into Darwin city center. Also be aware you can only pay inside the bus with small bills or coins.
