Syamsuddin Noor (BDJ) airport is a medium size airport half an hour drive (26km) from the south-east of Banjarmasin city. It is one of the few Indonesian airports which can handle wide-body jets like the Boeing 767, the first one landed here in 2004.
Bandung Syamsuddin Noor Airport has one runway and one passenger terminal. A new terminal will be built but as of now (2017) the current terminal is old and cramped.
Syamsuddin Noor (BDJ) airport is located 10 km southwest of Banjarbaru and 26 km to the south-east of Banjarmasin city center, about a half hour by car.
There are no buses at the airport. But if you walk about 2 minutes to the street outside of the airport, you should be able to share a mini-van (angkot) heading to the Terminal Induk KM 6 which costs just Rp. 15.000.
At the airport you can take a taxi (with fixed rate) or tell your hotel to pick you up. Taxis to/from Syamsuddin Noor Airport operate with a fixed rate and cost between 80.000 and 120.000 depending on your destination in the city.

Syamsudin Noor International Airport is not a large airport so there are not many flights departing here. There are only a few destinations that you can reach from Syamsudin Noor International Airport, most of these are operated by Lion Air. Many people take a flight to Yogyakarta and transfer to another flight there.
