The international airport of Brisbane is with well over 20 million passengers a year the third largest airport in Australia after Sydney and Melbourne.
From the Brisbane Airport you can fly to pretty much all destinations within Australia as well as to 30 international destinations, mostly in Asia and New Zealand with one of the 26 airlines that serve Brisbane. The airport is a major hub for both Virgin Australia as well as for the Qantas group (Qantas and Jetstar).
This Brisbane Airport was opened in 1988 to replace the old airport at Eagle Farm. To cater to further growth in international traffic a new international terminal was constructed in 1995 which has been expanded since then.
Brisbane Airport is not a large airport so there are not many flights departing here. There are only a few destinations that you can reach from Brisbane Airport, most of these are operated by Qantas. Many people take a flight to Perth and transfer to another flight there.
