The new Mathilda Batlayeri Airport is a small domestic airport serving Saumlaki on Tanimbar Islands in Maluku. The airport replaced the old Olilit Airport in 2014.
The airport is named after Mathilda Batlayeri, a heroine originating from Tanimbar Islands who died in 1953 while fighting the Darul Islam rebel movement in South Kalimantan.
The airport has one small but modern terminal and one runway with a length of 2000 meters. There is a plan to extend the runway as now only propeller aircraft are able to land here.
The Mathilda Batlayeri Airport is located about 20 km north of Saumlaki.
Mathilda Batlayeri Airport is not a large airport so there are not many flights departing here. There are only a few destinations that you can reach from Mathilda Batlayeri Airport, most of these are operated by Wings Air. Many people take a flight to Ambon and transfer to another flight there.
