The Newcastle Airport is a small, domestic airport which shares the runway with the Royal Australian Air Force Base Williamtown. All major Australian airlines operate flights to Newcastle from their hubs in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.
Sydney is only a two hours drive away so it may be more efficient in time and money to fly to Sydney instead and take a bus or train to Newcastle.
The Newcastle Airport is located in Port Stephens, 15 km north of Newcastle, New South Wales.
Public buses are widely at Newcastle Airport, one operates from the airport to Newscastle train station (11 times a day) and one operates to Maitland, Raymond Terrace and Stockton. One-way ticket for the public bus is $4.50.
Taxis are available outside the terminal of Newcastle Airport but with a price of $60.00 to the city they are quite expensive.
