Jakarta's Halim Perdanakusuma Airport was the city's main airport until the opening of Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta Airport in 1985 and was used for governmental flights and it is a major air force base for the Indonesian Air Force. In 2014 it was reopened for commercial flights to ease the congestion at the main airport.

Halim Airport has one, old passenger terminal and one runway with a length of 3000 meter. The passenger terminal is for domestic flights only and for both arriving and departing passengers.
Halim Perdanakusama Airport is located within the city limits of Jakarta, in the southeast part of the city, about 13 km from the National Monument (Monas).
DAMRI airport shuttle buses depart regularly from the Halim Perdanakusuma airport to several destinations in Jakarta.
A bus to Bogor and Soekarna-Hatta Airport will cost Rp. 30.000 per person, to Gambir Train Station, Bekasi, Pulo Gebang and Depok Rp. 25.000 and to Rawamangun Bus terminal Rp. 20.000.
Travel time is about half hour to an hour, but depends heavily on traffic conditions.
Since Halim Perdanakusama is not far from central Jakarta a taxi is quite affordable, especially if you are with several people. Expect to pay about Rp. 100.000 for a taxi to central Jakarta (Monas).
