Juwata International Airport (TRK) is an airport in Tarakan, East Kalimantan, Indonesia. It is located on the island of Tarakan which is off the coast of Borneo. The airport was the main Allied objective during the Battle of Tarakan (1945).
Juwata International Airport is not a large airport so there are not many flights departing here. There are only a few destinations that you can reach from Juwata International Airport, most of these are operated by Super Air Jet. Many people take a flight to Surabaya and transfer to another flight there.
Juwata Airport has one runway and one terminal. Both were recently (2016) upgraded: the runway was extended and a new passenger terminal has been built, increasing capacity from 600 to 2000 passengers a day.
Juwata Airport is located very close to Tarakan city: only a few kilometers north of the center.
You can walk out about 200m to the highway and try to catch a public minibus for the standard price of Rp 3000. There are also ojek for hire at various street corners. The best spot to catch a taxi, ojek or minibus is the terminal on Jl Yos Sudarso.
A taxi to or from the airport to the city center costs about Rp 50,000 and Rp. 60.000 to the harbor.
