Eindhoven Airport, located just 7 km west of the city, is the main low-cost airport of the Netherlands and the second-largest airport after Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. Eindhoven is the main hub for Transavia and Ryanair. About 5 million passengers a year use Eindhoven Airport. A new terminal was constructed in 2012 to accommodate the increasing number of passengers. All facilities are available here, including a airport hotel, ATM, baggage lockers etc.
Eindhoven Airport was founded as a grass strip in 1932 and was expanded by the Germans during the Second World War. Also after the War the Airport continued its military use and was made available for civilian use only in 1984. Now the F-16 jet-fighters are gone but the airport is still used for military transports.

How to get from the airport to Eindhoven city centre by public transport?

The best way to get into the city center is by bus: the fully-electric bus network of Eindhoven connects the airport with the central bus station by lines 400 and 401. Buses depart outside the terminal, about 100 meters on the right side. Tickets cost € 3.75 and can be bought inside the bus. Buses depart every 5 minutes in the day time and the ride takes about an half hour. The central bus and train station are located next to each. The central train station is a transport node with many connections to cities in the Netherlands: you can take a direct train to Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hauge or Maastricht from Eindhoven Station.
A taxi to the city center would cost around 35 euro's. The taxi stand is also outside on the right side.
